I booked a vehicle from Budget, picking it up at Orlando International Airport.

Obviously we were tired when we collected the vehicle after being traveling since 4am, and drove straight to our Villa for a good nights sleep, but next day we noticed that the vehicle was very dirty on the inside and there was a grating noise coming from the gearbox / drive shaft.

We telephoned Budget who told us to take the vehicle to Winter Haven, which we did, but on arrival there the man was totally unhelpful, stating he was only a franchise and did not have a replacement vehicle. He advised us to take it to another city, but eventually contacted Budget at Orlando airport who told us to take it back there.

We went there and, as we are frequent travellers, used Frontage Road (no toll) to get into an out of the Airport.

This was over half a day wasted because we got a substandard car (even though according to your website this was a premium car) and even the guy in the Airport admitted that we should not have got a car in this condition – it had 33k + miles.

Now, some 6 1/2 months later, my Credit Card was debited by Budget.

Inquiries showed this was due to a Toll Violation (amounting to 75 cents, but Budgets charges took this to $35.75) on Beeline expressway.

I went on to the http://www.e-tolls.com website and inserted my surname and the rental contract number and it showed the violation occurred at 14:52 on 24/6, and I booked the car out at 15:45, therefore documentary proof that this occurred BEFORE I had the car.

I contacted Budget, who responded “contact e-tolls, this has nothing to do with us”. E-tolls does not have any contact facility on their website other than telephone, and I refuse to pay for an international call, when they cannot even provide evidence that I had the car!!

I again contacted Budget and asked for times / dates and identification nos of vehicles and again got the response “Contact e-tolls”

Some too-ing and fro-ing got nowhere, so I contacted Florida State Department, who advise that e-tolls is a subsidiary company of Budget, they had contacted e-tolls on my behalf and passed my details on to them for them to contact me, but more that a week later, no contact.

I again contacted Budget for the 5th time asking for times / dates and vehicle identification nos for my hire. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO FURNISH THE DETAILS.

So I’m left will a bill for a toll road I was not on, in a car which was not on hire to me, and Budget (who debited my credit card) and e-tolls refuse to contact me.
