Oak Automotive Complaints and Reviews

We Are Very Confused, They Are Liars

We have been using Oaks Automotive for a few years now. In the beginning, we only had one car that we had bought brand new and always took it there for inspections, tires, brakes, etc. It always passed inspections without needing anything. We were always happy that the mechanics never lied to us and said it needed something it didn’t just to make money. We always felt that we were getting good deals and great service when we went there.

About a year after we started using them, we obtained a second vehicle. It was about 10 years old. When we were told it needed over $1000 worth of work for inspection, we didn’t think anything of it. Unfortunately, we paid less than that for the vehicle and it simply was not worth fixing. Luckily, the owner of Oaks Automotive had a friend who bought Junker cars. We worked out a deal of something like $500 or $600 and sold the friend of our mechanic the vehicle.

Fast forward a few years later my husband’s grandfather died and my husband was given the car. This car was 17 years old but still only had 60,000 original miles on it, and it had not been driven more than 300 miles since it was inspected the previous year because his grandfather was sick and in a nursing home for most of the year. Not to mention his grandparents made sure they kept up with the regular scheduled maintenance of their vehicles like it was their religion.

So you can imagine our confusion when we were told by this man that we thought we could trust that the car needed over $2000 worth of work to be inspection. We had no reason not to trust him.. and he knew we would never put that kind of money into an 18 year old car so we could not figure out what he could possibly gain from telling us this. After talking to my father in law, he urged us to get a second opinion at the establishment that they had gotten the car inspected at the previous year. We did just that.

Can you guess what was needed?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. We paid the fee for the inspections, stickers, etc. and that was it. The car passed inspection with flying colors. Apparently the owner of Oaks Automotive is getting more out of this little side business he has going on with his friends rather than the type of business they could be getting by being a trustworthy, honest mechanic. I am sickened by this.
