Rip Off For Replace The TransmissionFeb
11
2010
Came here wednesday, left next Tuesday with my transmission in my back seat, paid $409 for a diagnosis to find they wanted to charge me over $3000 to fix my transmission when it was only a $250 torque converter. When I got my car back the transmission was in the trunk and my engine was held up with coat hangers. Avoid this place.
Suggestion #3
It concerns me that this complaint is an exact copy of a prior complaint posted 2 months ago on another web site. It is obvious that this is not a new complaint but just a reposting of an old complaint that had been resolved. This sort of practice is not apreciated as it will give potential customers the impression that there are numerous complaints rather than just one therefore impacting aour ability to conduct business in an already difficult time. I therefore request that this post be removed immediatly.
Thank you gor your prompt attention in this matter.

Suggestion #1
This customer had the transmission rebuilt approximately 1 year ago (someplace else). When it failed, he brought it to us. We suggested he take it back to the original shop because, even though his warranty was expired, they might help him with his situation.
He stated he wanted us to fix it because he was dissatisfied with the other shop. He authorized us to remove and disassemble the transmission to determine what was wrong. We found that the torque converter had failed and sent metal and aluminum shards and shavings throughout the transmission. Aside from the torque converter, several other internal parts were impacted, contaminated and/or damaged by the metal and aluminum. After we gave him the price to completely rebuild his transmission, he decided to tow it someplace else. Contrary to his statement, there is no “backseat” or “trunk” to put the parts.
The disassembled transmission was boxed and placed on plastic in the rear of his van. The engine support we use, while removing, working on and installing the transmission, is a $500.00 piece of specialty equipment. However, when being towed it is sufficient to use wire to insure the engine and front end remain in position for transport. The $409 was not for “diagnosis”, it was for the labor to remove, disassemble and examine his transmission.
Wherever he took the vehicle they shouldn’t have charged him for this removal and disassemble work, because they would have had to remove and disassemble the transmission to fix it.
