Dishonest Car Dealers, Better Avoid Them

2010

On October 30, 2009 we purchased a 2010 Mazda Speed3 from Kramer Mazda. We had a 2005 Mazda which we leased and wanted to trade in. There were 8 more lease payments owing on the 2005 Mazda. In our deal to purchase the 2010 Mazda we had them write in the remaining 8 lease payments. When signing the papers for the 2010 Mazda we asked Jennifer who was doing up the financial papers to make sure all the lease payments were included in the total cost.

She showed us a screen which showed that 8 lease payments were included in the final cost. On or around the 3rd of November Rick Materi from Kramer Mazda called to tell us that we owed another $261.90 to Mazda Canada for our 2005 vehicle. Needless to say we were very upset on and November 13, 2009 we went in to Kramer Mazda to ask they why we owed another 261.90. Apparently Kramer Mazda didn’t pay enough to Mazda Canada for our lease but We owed Mazda Canada this money. We paid the money and were told that all payments had been made on the lease. Then to our surprise on November 16, 2009 Mazda Canada took $327 out of our account because Kramer Mazda still hadn’t paid enough for our 8 remaining payments.

We called Rick and asked him about why we had to pay another $327. He basically laid the blame on us and that there was nothing he could do. He said any information Kramer Mazda got about the remaining lease payments they probably got from us so if Kramer Mazda ended up paying less than what was owed it wasn’t their fault. When I asked him why we when we paid the $261.90 on November 13, 2009 and were told that was all that owed he said it was probably because the final number owing from the lease was given after the $327 was taken out of our account.

That’s interesting because he initially told us on or around November third that we owed another 261.90. How could they have come up with that number unless they knew that in the future we were going to be debited 327 by Mazda Canada. Unfortunately for us we didn’t get in writing the breakdown of what was actually being paid for the lease and what we were paying for the 2010 Mazda. We only saw on their computer screen that 8 lease payments were included in our deal (but it didn’t say the amount of what each payment was we assumed it was for 8 payments of $327 but it was obviously for a lesser amount).

We were also only verbally told that everything was ok and we weren’t going to be extra billed by Mazda Canada. We will never be purchasing a vehicle from Kramer Mazda again and have been informing our friends and, anyone we come in contact with what our experience was like at Kramer Mazda in Calgary. Their lack of professionalism and honesty is horrible and this was the worst experience we have ever had in purchasing a vehicle.

Suggestion #1

You are basically idiots!!! Blame the dealer for your stupidity??? You LEASED a car through a Mazda store and wanted out 8 MONTHS before your contract was up! This is not the dealer’s fault.

Certainly you can’t be so dim as to think that you would not be on the hook for any costs of forfeiting a contract with a leasing company? Weelll, it looks like you are that dim. Go ahead and rail against this store, your tiny voice will be overcome by thousands of satisfied customers – myself included, proud owner of a 2009 Mazda 3 GT!!
